In today’s world, sustainability has become a key consideration for both individuals and businesses alike, and can often be just as important as price. At Northwood, we are acutely aware of the environmental impact of our paper products can have and to reduce our CO2 emissions we participate in EU approved programmes to reduce energy use.
At Northwood, we put the care of environment at the heart of what we do, and work hard to instil an environmentally conscious attitude at every level of staff in every area of the business. That’s why our approach considers the impact of energy and material consumption, emissions, waste and human behaviour.
The key to Northwood’s success is that almost all products are made from 100% recycled waste paper. We offer the customer a complete supply chain; from collecting, and processing waste paper to manufacture into parent reel before conversion and transport to the customer. We take pride in manufacturing products that are environmentally friendly from cradle to grave.
We are proud to be Ecolabel certified – meaning the whole life cycle of the product is reviewed and assessed before accreditation.
The EU Ecolabel helps identify products and services that have a reduced environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from the extraction of raw material through to production, use and disposal. Recognised throughout Europe, EU Ecolabel is a voluntary label promoting environmental excellence which can be trusted.
At Northwood, our green story is about much more than just the paper. Our dispensing systems themselves are carefully designed for cost-in-use savings. This means that they contribute to a significant reduction in both waste and over-consumption.
In addition, they offer hygienic benefits to workplace environments where cleanliness is critical.Did you know that , a paper hand towel can significantly reduce bacteria transfer in comparison to an electric drier – and requires no energy supply, meaning that the overall environmental footprint is considerably reduced.
Our hand towels are designed to be strong when wet, yet quickly disintegrate after use, so that even if they were to go to landfill, they would quickly decompose. Our aim is for all of our products to meet the composting standards set out by the Soil Association.
We are also proud to be CHSA accredited, which guarantees the quality and specification of our products.
Northwood operates to a DIFOT service levels of over 99%, a fundamental indicator for logistics performance that indicates our commitment to excellence in supply chain operations.
